Lara was on the founding team of Watermelon Pictures, a film label rooted in Palestinian culture and creativity. She recently completed her latest short film, titled Daughters of the Fig, which is the first project under her film label, ALBI Productions.
Lara is a 2021 George and Rose B. Ashe Arts Scholarship recipient and was selected as a 2022 BlackStar Film Festival official screener. She is a 2023 Cinema & Television BIPOC Filmmaker Grant awardee and screened her film To'oborni in several festivals around the world, including SOHO International Film Festival, Lebanese Independent Film Festival, AFMI's Arab Film Festival, and more.
Aside from writing and directing for film, Lara’s passions include anything and everything art related. She spends her free time carving linocut prints, drawing, taking photos, and experimenting with new mediums. She enjoys visiting museums, traveling the world, reading, and indulging her sweet tooth.
